What does it mean to be healthy?
For some this is the ability to run a marathon and for others this is to go on daily walks.
The balance of a physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing are all contributing factors to a healthy life style.
I believe that to be healthy, we need to be active and for that we need energy. This can be found in our surrounding environment and what we eat.
In any case, we all have the ability to take control of our health.
There are many components to physical fitness.
I personally prioritise the following:
The ability of both body systems (cardiocirculatory and respiratory) to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, and the capability of removing the produced waste from the cells after a physical effort.
Depends on the capacity of muscular fibers to exert force and the most resistance in one effort. We use it in many of our routine tasks such as lifting firewood.
Is the ability of a muscle or muscle group to exert force to overcome a resistance many times. Again, we do it regularly, for example, using a lawn mower.
Is very important to allow freedom in the movements, to grant joints and muscles a great range of mobility. It helps to decrease the risk of injuries, flexible muscles are less likely to suffer damage. Therefore, stretching after exercising or practising yoga on a daily basis, keeps muscles relaxed.
Is used to describe the percentage of muscle, fat, bone and water in human bodies. Having a higher proportion of fat-free mass to a lower body fat, leads to a healthier body composition than a person with a higher body fat. This proportion is associated to weight related health problem.
